Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about APA citation format, APA 7 vs APA 6, and DOI/ISBN usage.
How do I cite a book in APA 7?
Add an ISBN or enter the details manually. Include author, year, title, and publisher, then generate the citation in APA 7.
How do I cite a website in APA format?
Choose webpage and enter the source details. This form accepts a year; review full publication dates, group authors and retrieval dates against APA guidance before using the result.
Does APA 7 still use "Retrieved from"?
Usually not. APA 7 uses a retrieval date for content designed to change over time that is not archived. An undated page alone does not require one; add it manually when needed.
What is the difference between APA 6 and APA 7?
APA 7 removed publisher location for books and updated several formatting rules. You can switch between editions with one click.
How do in-text citations work in APA?
Use author + year in parentheses, or author in the sentence with year in parentheses. Add page numbers for direct quotes.
Can I use DOI instead of URL?
Yes. For scholarly sources, DOI is preferred when available.
Is this APA citation generator free?
Yes, the tool is free to use.
